Our Community & History

The Townes of Coppermill is located in the McNair Farms region of Western Fairfax County. McNair Farms is a 264-acre property situated on what was once the McNair family dairy farm. Today, McNair Farms is a planned community comprised of townhouses, single-family homes, condominiums, and rental apartment complexes. A senior citizen’s complex, a day care center, and an elementary school also are a portion of McNair Farms. Adjacent to our community and within easy walking distance are two shopping centers that are designed to care for your every need! Throughout our Townes of Coppermill community, you will find trails and sidewalks for walking, jogging or biking.  There is a basketball court, volleyball court, tot-lot, and hiking trails for your use and enjoyment!

In the broader McNair Farms community, there is a community center and community pool available for use at an additional fee.  Information about renting the community center can be found here or by calling 703-713-6111.  Information about external membership for the McNair Farms swimming pool can be found here. The broader McNair Farms community is on the Fairfax Connector bus route with bus stops conveniently placed thoughout the community.  There is a “Park n’ Ride” facility located on Sunrise Valley Drive less than two miles away which will serve dual functions by 2015 as a planned Grey Line metro stop.

The Townes of Coppermill community was constructed in two phases between 1994 and 1996.  The entire property was purchased and developed by Laing Homes.

Phase I includes 108 townhouses.  Phase I was completed in 1995 and consists of townhouses between Coppermine Road and Sugar Mill Way.

Phase II includes the remaining 111 townhouses.  Phase II was completed in 1997 and consists of townhouses between Sugar Mill Way and Fox Mill Drive.
